The evidence

Active recall is the literature.

Decades of cognitive-science research find that retrieval practice (answering questions you might get wrong) produces more durable learning than re-reading or highlighting. We built a question bank disciplined enough to use it.

FAQ

The questions serious applicants actually ask.

What is the NMC Test of Competence CBT?
The NMC Test of Competence Computer-Based Test (CBT) is the first part of the NMC Test of Competence for internationally educated nurses (IENs) seeking to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council in the UK. It is delivered at Pearson VUE test centres worldwide and assesses knowledge across 8 modules including professional practice, medicines management, and numeracy.
How many questions are in the NMC CBT?
The NMC CBT consists of 120 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 3 hours. Questions are divided across the 8 assessment modules, with numeracy carrying a separate pass/fail threshold.
What is the pass mark for the NMC Test of Competence CBT?
Candidates must achieve the pass mark set by the NMC for the overall CBT. The numeracy section also has its own minimum pass requirement. The NMC does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark, as it is set by the standard-setting process for each exam version.
How many times can you retake the NMC CBT?
There is no official limit on the number of NMC CBT attempts. However, each attempt requires a new booking and fee at a Pearson VUE test centre. There is a mandatory waiting period between attempts.
Can internationally educated nurses from India, the Philippines, or Nigeria take the NMC CBT?
Yes. The NMC CBT is available at Pearson VUE test centres globally, including centres in India, the Philippines, Nigeria, Ghana, and Pakistan, as well as throughout the UK. NMC Prep is designed for internationally educated nurses regardless of where they trained or where they are currently based.
Is the first module really free?
Yes, the Professional Practice and NMC Code module is fully free with no credit card required. You can start practising immediately after signing up.
